I was almost positive the ZETEC is designed to be a screamer in the high RPM's, which is why my low RPM's were raising a red flag to me. It does drive perfectly normal in the lower RPM's, like when shifting at about 3,000 RPM. I changed oil and filter on a 99 Contour 4 cylinder Zetec engine the other day. Assumed it was the common Motorcraft 400 (Fram PH3600 for reference)that is used on many Ford products. Double checked to make sure and found it called for a Motorcraft 2005 (Fram PH8316). I was curious and checked the Fram site to check the specs. Today I actually went to a mechanic I know here, showed him the diagram in the Ford manual, where the "engine" code supposed to be, he immediately pointed out the same place with numbers that was found yesterday by the DMV techs, and said that is the only one.
