I used to have a DS, and I completely agree about GBA did gave two flavors of ribbon cable but the IPS kits have universal ribbons for that. SP 101 is backlit (not front lit like the 001) most find the 101 to be great and usually costs more. So like the other reply dont spend extra to get similar results. ArjanGameboyman • 9 mo. ago. No. The pcb is different. There is a mod you could do to the 001 pcb to make the 101 screen work but it's complicated and i don't know if the parts are still available. Best thing to do is to sell yours and buy a legit 101. However i do recommend you reconsider ips. 101 screens are all dying of light bleed. I have been referring to Gekkio's schematics for a while now. For the large part, they've been very helpful but it's for an AGS-001, and not a 101 so there are a number of differences with the PCB layout and charge/power circuity (updated integrated power IC). The Funnyplaying IPS screens have the optional wire to solder for brightness. Without it, the screen will be stuck at a default brightness. If you do solder that wire, then pressing the button on the Gameboy will cycle through multiple brightness levels.
